Brisbane Christmas Parade


Brisbane City’s nightly Christmas Parade is back for 2017, a sea of dazzling colours and happy faces. There’s a parade every night at 7pm between 15-24 December. The parade starts outside Queens Plaza and heads down Queen Street Mall, turning into Albert St and finishing in King George Square.

Free movies by the river under summer skies – now that sounds like a Brisbane Christmas! Southbank is showing free Christmas movies like Home Alone and A Muppet Christmas Carol from December 15-23, with sessions every evening at 6pm and 8pm. Check out the full movie timetable here.

Brisbane City Hall Light Spectacular


An absolute must-see for anyone who finds themselves in the city on a December evening. The facade of Brisbane City Hall becomes a movie screen for an amazing short animation that screens every 15 minutes from 7.30pm between 8-24 December.

Southbank Christmas Fireworks


Get over to Southbank for not one but FOUR nights of festive fireworks from 20-23 December. Check the Visit Brisbane website for start times, which are usually conveniently between the 1st and 2nd screenings of free movies at Southbank beach, making it a great night out.
