Lifeline Fortitude Valley

Trading hours: Mon–Fri 8:30am–5:00pm and Saturday 9am–3:30pm
Given the location, there’s no surprises this Lifeline op shop is full of party-perfect dresses, evening wear and all that glitters, so if you’re heading out on the town make this your first stop.
The store receives fresh stock twice a week, so be sure to visit Tuesday and Thursday for first dibs!
You’ll find high end brands such as Industrie, French Connection, ASOS, Scotch & Soda, Forever New, Zara and Sass & Bide at prices ranging from $8.50 to $50. Most garments are either new or washed and pressed meticulously, so even if they’re preloved they’ll look and feel as good as new.
And let’s not forget the footwear – a huge range of statement stilettos and men’s dress shoes starting from $10.
Suited to Success

You can really look good for less thanks to Suited to Success this Christmas. Most garments in their Fortitude Valley store go for $5 including two-piece suits, so you could have an entire ensemble sorted for $15!
They stock a huge selection of quality pre-loved ladies and menswear like Ben Sherman, Cue, Banana Republic, Forever New and Leona Edmiston to Country Road, Saba, Industrie, Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren.
Suited to Success also has two high-end designer racks for those extra special occasions, with garments going for $10-$20. Footwear and bags are $5 and the accessories are $2 each or 3 for $5, so you may not even have to break a twenty!

If you’re looking for outfits for festive functions be sure to pop this op shop on your ‘Thriftmas list’. Vinnies Newstead has a huge range of cocktail dresses, formal gowns, suits and evening wear, and the stock is colour blocked making it easy to navigate to your preferred colour palette.
You’ll be amazed at the labels you’ll find – names like Scanlan Theodore, Mimco, Bec and Bridge, Kookai, Sheike, Finders Keepers and Lisa Ho to Armani, Versace, Wayne Cooper, Topman, Scotch & Soda and Country Road, all at a fraction of the retail cost.
Prices are set based on 10-20% of the original value, so you’re bound to bag a bargain. Women’s dresses range in price from $8-$100, and you can put together an entire menswear look for as little as $22, with pants going for $12-$25, collared shirts for between $10-$20 and suits for $30-$40.
Plus this Vinnies has your party feet covered with heels starting at $9 and men’s dress shoes going for $25-35.
Salvo’s Red Hill

You’re bound to find multiple outfits at this thrifting mecca. Salvos Red Hill is the size of a supermarket, so allow yourself at least an hour to give it a thorough going over. Tuesdays are the best days if you want first dibs on newly arrived stock.
The back section of the op shop has a massive range of menswear, with an 18-metre long rack of shirts and 10-metre-long rack of pants to choose from, featuring labels like Sportscraft, Roger David, Ben Sherman, Blaq, Tommy Hilfiger, Industrie and Tarocash. Collared shirts in plenty of party appropriate prints range in price from $5-$20, dress pants from $6-$25, two-piece suits start from $25 and you can finish off your look with a nice pair of dress shoes for between $15 – $25.
The store also has a dedicated dress area with colour blocked frocks for any occasion in every fabric, print and pattern you could imagine. Brands like French Connection, Portmans, Zara, Sportsgirl, ASOS, Decjuba, Sheike and Forever New go for between $8-$25 and some are still brand new with tags attached.
And just when you thought it couldn’t get any cheaper, the store has colour coded price tags which offer further discounts, from 50% off, to marking garments right down to $2.
For those high end holiday events that you need to step it up for, there’s also a Salvo’s Street Boutique just inside the entrance, which has all the luxe labels for a fraction of the cost from Christian Dior, Versace, Kenneth Cole and Max Mara to Camilla, Diane Von Furstenberg and Michael Kors. Prices range from $30-$500.
RSPCA New Farm

RSPCA New Farm has all the high-end labels you know and love without the painful price tag. Think Calvin Klein, Carla Zampatti, Country Road, Cue, J Crew, Tommy Hilfiger, SABA, Marcs and more. Each piece that makes its way to the rack has been carefully selected by the team, so you’ll only find the cream of the crop in-store.
Most of the menswear including collared shirts and dress pants are marked $10 and under, but if you really want to up your dapper game you can score a two-piece suit for $40-$50. There’s plenty of party-wear for the ladies too. Dresses retail for between $8-$20 and shoes range from $4-$25 making it easy to look merry this Christmas.
